This lecture stresses programming practice on UNIX and Linux platforms. A gentle introduction to UNIX/Linux system software internals is given. IMajor components such as -- a.out, Daemon, server, Kernel, Utility, libraries, thread, module, patch etc. are explained and practiced. User interfaces to kernel and linrary will also be explained. Finally, various software development tools on UNIX/Linux are introduced. These include -- Shell, Awk, make, SCCS, ctags etc.
