Summary

MapReduce is a legacy platform. To support diverse requirements for modern workloads, programming models, and applications, data warehouses have radically redesigned the computation stack. This talk will present some of the active research and development in this space, with particular attention to Apache Hadoop YARN (Yet Another Resource Negotiator).

Speaker Bio

Chris Douglas is a research engineer in the Cloud and Information Services Lab (CISL) at Microsoft. He is also the current chair of the Hadoop project at the Apache Software Foundation. Formerly, he worked at Yahoo on HDFS, MapReduce, and was one of the original designers and implementers of the YARN platform.
