Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) is one of the most important and influential fields, encompassing all areas related to computers. Almost every industry and business in the world is undergoing transformation through computers, the Internet, and AI; such changes are highlighted in various media under keywords such as the Fourth Industrial Revolution, digital transformation (DX), and AI transformation (AX). Recently, Nobel Prizes have even been awarded to AI experts, astonishing the world.

The Department of CSE at Seoul National University brings together 40+ faculty and staff members, 400+ undergraduate students, and 350+ graduate students to achieve the highest standards in education and research. Our 35 professors and their graduate students publish cutting-edge research results in top international conferences, and many students acquire core skills in computing through our well-structured curriculum, covering everything from the basics to applications.

In this era of convergence and integration, computer technologies play a pivotal role. Our department aims to take a leading role in addressing how to provide excellent education and research amidst the rapidly changing landscape of growing demand for computer education, swiftly advancing IT technologies, and ever-evolving computer-related industries.

As the head of the Department of CSE, I will do my utmost to foster a culture of transparency, communication, and consideration. I ask for your warm and ongoing support and interest in our department at Seoul National University.
