Vision-based perception using visible light has long been the primary way humans and AI systems understand their surroundings. As wireless technologies such as 4G, 5G, and emerging 6G become integral to daily life, the wireless spectrum now carries a diverse range of signals beyond visible light.

Our lab aims to leverage these signals for perception beyond sight, complementing vision in scenarios with blockages or poor lighting, and enabling material and environmental sensing.

Toward the long-term goal of pervasive “meta-perception,” we focus on harnessing ambient signals—including satellite transmissions, cellular infrastructure signals, and unintended signal leakages—to provide both humans and AI agents with an additional sensing dimension for interpreting and interacting with the physical world.
